Desk Shortages

Forget what you remember of your schooling environment. We work in areas where the western construct is very different. There are over 95 million children in Africa who do not have access to a classroom desk when attending school. Our mission is to see that this status quo is changed. The Desmond Tutu Tutudesk Campaign (‘The Campaign’) is championed by Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu under the leadership of Thandeka Tutu-Gxashe, with the objective of providing 20 million African children with Tutudesks, by the end of 2025.

First and foremost, the Tutudesk Campaign was created to offer our constituents dignity. It is more than just infrastructure. Too many of our children are compromised every day at school. It is simply not good enough that the necessity of a writing surface remains out of reach for so many.

We understand this because many of our team experienced it first-hand, as learners and witnesses to school communities that do not have basic infrastructure.

There is work and then there is calling. We operate in the latter. We offer an effective and proven solution to a significant crisis affecting especially African education. The Tutudesk is an award-winning success story of many years, dealing directly and immediately with the challenges caused by the lack of classroom furniture and infrastructure. As a highly measurable solution, its impact and positioning have proven to be wholly sustainable.

The cornerstone of any success in this field are our sponsors. We value a shared vision  and insists that we provide our donors and supporters with requisite measurability. Tutudesk sponsorships are tracked from payment through delivery in real time and our operating models ensure our donors also have complete flexibility and when creating their Tutudesk intervention strategy.

Our team’s role, from management to integration, is to provide professional guidance and support to further to ensure all operational requirements of donor brief are completed in respect of instruction.

Various national and international awards, strategic affiliations, and supporters, combined with the strength of our Patron, Advisory Board and current bona fides, add significant credibility and value to The Campaign outreach proposition.
